Cody Martin

Rev. Cody Anne Schuman, is a native Oregonian. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA, (1997) and a Master of Divinity from Western Seminary, Portland, OR, (2003). Cody is an ordained minister with Village Baptist Church and a Board Certified Chaplain (BCC), completing clinical chaplaincy training under both Healthcare Chaplains’ Ministry Association and Clinical Pastoral Education at OHSU and the Portland Veteran’s Hospital. Cody is one of three full time chaplains at OHSU and OHSU/Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Cody earned a Clinical Ethics Certification from Portland State University and serves on the OHSU ethics consult service. Cody is co-author of The Chaplain and the Cat, a book written with Lori Harris in memory of her daughter Lillian Harris, to help children and parents process pediatric cancer.

Cody is married to the love of her life, W. Bruce Schuman. Bruce begins his fifteenth year with Intel, as the IT Finance Controller. Cody’s second love is her gorgeous and fluffy ragdoll cat named Monsieur Peluche, (Mr. Fluffy in English) a central figure in The Chaplain and the Cat. Cody’s parents, Rodger and Suzanne Martin, live in Oregon, along with Cody’s sister, Christine Martin, a professional make-up artist and fitness instructor, niece Justine, and her sister- in-law, Miriam and brother, Justin Martin, an estate lawyer with Myatt & Bell.
